Pathogenesis of otitis media is not dearly understood, and not much attention has been paid to it even though otits media is one of the most common diseases in otolaryngological field. There is abundant epidemiological and clinical evidence in support of the idea that eustachian tube problems are important predisposing factors in the pathogenesis of otitis media. In this paper, I would like to review functional morphology of the eustachian tube related to otitis media. This reveiw will provide a morphological basis for future eustachian tube and middle ear research concerning the pathogenesis of otitis media.
