Abstract
Aim: This article describes the relationship between nurse practice environment and burnout of clinical nurse in Cambodia.
Method: A cross-sectional survey using 136 clinical nurses from five public hospitals in Cambodia to complete the research instrument of Nurse Practice environment and burnout (Copenhagen Burnout Inventory, CBI).
Finding: There were negative significant relationship between nurse practice environment and burnout of participant in (r = -.18, p = .032). The total of nurse practice environment was negative significantly related total of work-related burnout (r = -.24, p = .006) which indicate that the nurse practice environment has to increase more favorable to decrease the level of personal and work-related burnout. Moreover, the total of burnout was found a negative significant related to the total of nurse manager, ability leadership and support (r = -.18, p = .034), total of staffing and resource adequacy (r = -.21, p = .016), and total of nursing foundations for quality of care (r = -.25, p = .003) which indicate that the level of burnout was increase, and the nurse practice environment had decrease of favorable in their practice environment.
Conclusion: Improvements to the environment, to education, and increase value of clinical nurses and relationship between nurses and physician are required to reduce the risk of nurses developing burnout and increase more patient safety in the future.
