dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study is to evaluate whether milieu therapy can improve the attitude of chronic schizophrenic patients in asylum and can change safely the environment of the closed ward. During June 1995 to December 1995, the authors have administered milieu therapy to 80 women inmates for 7 months at one women-ward of Salang-Bat asylum located in Kyungki-Do. The results were as follows:
1) The group after the milieu therapy administered scored higher in practical orientation subscale of ward atmosphere scale(WAS) than before the milieu therapy.
2) The group under milieu therapy approach scored higher score in practical orientation subscale of WAS than the group under custodial administered ward.
The conclusion derived from this study is that if the asylum should apply milieu therapy in the closed ward in spite of heavy work and cost to obtain a better and sounder beneficial result.
