Malacoplakia of the Prostate

Abstract

Malacoplakia is a rare granulomatous disease that predominantly affects the urinary tract, especially the urinary bladder. Prostatic involvement of malacoplakia is very rare and may clinically mimic prostate carcinoma. Herein, we report a case of prostatic malacoplakia in a 72-year-old man, which was diagnosed on a transrectal prostate biopsy performed for elevated serum prostate-specific antigen level and palpable nodule on digital rectal examination.
